The Microsoft Office web components include Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint Presentation, and of course the stellar note taking application OneNote. All this comes bundled with a 25 GB free online storage space to store any and all your documents in the form of SkyDrive.

What is more, now Microsoft Office for web  works on Linux too since the Office apps run within a web browser,  which should make anybody using Linux happy.

However, there are powerful  open source alternatives to Microsoft products, do take a look at alternate free word processors, and note taking software.

The web apps seem to be a watered down versions of the Microsoft Office software as all the features are not available in the web version.
