Karoshi suicide salaryman – Online Flash game

Online games are churned out by the 1000s every day. All the games I have played till date involved ensuring the safety of the protagonist of the game and leading him from one point to another, side stepping all the pitfalls and dangers that he encounters. But Karoshi suicide salaryman game is different in that you have to find ways in which the salaryman can end his life. Believe me, it is not going to be easy.

Karoshi Suicide Salaryman has 49 levels

Karoshi is a salaryman purportedly living in Japan who has been given 49 lives by his creator to use or throw away.  And being a typical Japanese salaryman, he chose the latter. But ending ones life is not that simple. He has to first figure out how to suicide. There are 49 rooms and the only way to the next room is to lose his life. So you as the player has to find ways to help Karoshi take his own life.

This is a fabulous game and I was immersed in solving how to help Karoshi take his own life. While the puzzles that you encounter in each level are not that hard, some out of the box thinking is definitely required to arrive at a solution.  There are only five  controls in this game namely – the up, down, left and right arrow keys to move Karoshi, and the space bar to use a weapon.  And while on the subject of a weapon, Karoshi gets access to a gun in different levels but unfortunately he cannot direct the gun towards himself.  So it is up to you to help Karoshi find ingenious ways to use the gun to take his life.

Karoshi Game level 41

I was able to play all the way till 41st level where Karoshi has only 9 lives left. I am yet to figure out how to solve this level of the game – but solve I will. The game saves your progress automatically so you need not try to finish the game at one stretch. If you cannot find a solution to a puzzle, don’t get frustrated.  Take a deep breadth and move on to doing something else, like the work you have been putting off. You can come back and play the game from where you had stopped at a later time.

Update: I finished all the 49 levels.

All in all, Karoshi suicide salaryman is  a fabulous online puzzle game developed using Flash. And I had lots of fun playing it. You can play the game in any modern Linux distribution of your choice which has Adobe Flash player installed.
