Cell phones have evolved from a device meant merely to receive and make calls – to something versatile and as powerful as a computer. In fact, many of the high end cell phone models that are sold today have features that rival computers.

• Of these 65 % use text messaging as a mode of communication.
• 30 % surf the web via their cell phones.
• 22 % play games on their cell phones.
• 19 % download and use third party applications on their cell phones.
• 17 % access social networks and blogs via their cell phones.
• Just over 15 % listen to music.

The following cell phone features should be considered while shopping for one.

1. Battery life – Look for fast charging and long lasting batteries in your cell phones.
2. Wi-Fi – Choose a cell phone that has Wi-Fi. Because most cell phone data  networks are costlier and far slower than broadband Internet.
3. GPS Navigation – Many cell phones support GPS navigation services. However, your service provider may charge extra for accessing this service on your cell phone.
4. Camera – Don’t settle for less than 3 MP. Choose a cell phone which has at least 3 mega pixel camera.
5. Memory Card – Many cell phones have memory card slots – typically micro-SD, to expand storage capacity by up to 32 GB. Having a memory card slot in your cell phone is very convenient.
6. QWERTY Keyboard – Having a QWERTY keyboard will make your text messaging a lot more easier.  Many cell phones available today come with a QWERTY keyboard. Eg: Samsung Corby Pro, Blackberry etc.
