Jolicloud – A Linux Distribution for Netbooks

I am typing this in JoliCloud. It is a netbook centric OS based on Ubuntu Jaunty Jackalope. My search for a good operating system to run on a netbook started when I got a Samsung NC 10 netbook.

My family is fortunate to have access to tap water (many are not), which we use for drinking and cooking purposes. However, the tap water is always murky and need to be boiled and filtered prior to its use.

PCLinuxOS 2009 Review

This Linux distribution was founded in October 2003 by Texstar. Since its initial release, PCLinuxOS has come a long way. PCLinuxOS is distributed as a LiveCD and can also be installed to a local hard drive.

OpenGEU 8.04 Review
Posted on September 28th, 2008 No commentsOpenGEU is a Linux distribution based on Ubuntu. What sets it apart from the rest of the brood is that it comes bundled with not GNOME, and not KDE, but a customized version of E17 aka Enlightenment window manager. Enlightenment window manager E17 is touted as the next generation of UNIX graphical environments. It is not just a window manager but also a Desktop shell. It is still under heavy development, though very usable. Enlightenment window manager is considered to be very fast – even on old machines with just 64 MB RAM. More over, you do not need a graphics card to use the desktop to its full potential which includes animation effects.

DokuWiki – A versatile Wiki with a boat load of features

Sub $100 Laptop running Linux – Made in China

This is a laptop currently in production in China and which purportedly runs a Chinese Linux distribution. It has similarities in dimensions and features of the Asus eeePC.
