A Cool Spokeless Bicycle Built By Yale Students

All bicycle wheels have spokes , right ? You can’t even think of a bicycle wheel without any spokes.  At least that is what I believed in till I read about the spoke less bicycle. This bicycle is the brain child of a few Yale University students (9 in all, and Mechanical majors too). This bicycle sports a back wheel without any spokes. Check it out yourselves.

So why a spokeless bike ? Good question. Here is what one of its inventors (I mean student(s)) has to say about it.

1. Coolness factor.
2. To do something feasible at the same time challenging for their college project.
3. Prove the concept of a spokeless bike.
4. You can do a lot of things with the space that opens up where the spokes use to be. You can stick an electric motor in there. You can install some sort of gyro balanced storage basket.
5. Finally, the fact that they couldn’t find pictures of a real spokeless bicycle online really sealed the deal.
