LastPass – A Secure Online Password Manager
LastPass is an online password manager that helps you securely manage all your passwords.
It encrypts and stores all your passwords online. However, the lastpass database containing the passwords is encrypted locally on your machine before it is sent to the remote server thus making it very secure.
I have been using LastPass for some time now and it has saved me the hassle of remembering the user names and passwords of the accounts I have created with many websites.
The LastPass.com website itself is encrypted using high-grade AES 256 bit encryption before it transmitted over the Net.
LastPass is free for use on the Desktop. It is available for Windows platform as a native binary. And for Linux, and Mac OS X as web browser plugins. You can download the LastPass Firefox plugin from firefox website.
The interesting thing to note here is, LastPass is also available as a native application for smart phones and gadgets of today such as – iPhone, iPad, Android powered phones, Symbian cell phones, Palm WebOS, and Windows mobiles. However, to use LastPass on the mobile phones, you need to buy a premium membership – which comes rather cheap at a mere $1 per month, billed annually.
