Google has unveiled a new feature for Gmail users. Now it is possible to call any phone right from Gmail.

What you will need to call someones phone from Gmail -

1. A microphone
2. A set of speakers
3. Your own free Gmail account

For the  rest of this year (2010), the calls to US and Canada are free. However, this service incurs a charge – which Google claims is lower than what the telephone operators charge the world over.  The full list of countries and the charges applicable are listed here.

In addition to calling a phone number in Gmail, you can also receive calls if you have a Google Voice account. For more details visit gmail.com/call.
