Gmail Attachments – Drag and Drop Feature
Google has upgraded Gmail – by far the most popular web mail, by adding a couple of new features. The features are drag and drop support for attaching files to your email in Gmail, and inserting a calendar invitation right into the mail you send.
Gmail Attachments
Earlier, in order to attach files to your email in Gmail, you had to go through the browse – upload file – attach file cycle, for each file you needed to attach. Now Gmail team has added drag and drop support to Gmail.
What this means for the end user is, now you can attach any number of files to the email you are sending from your Gmail account by merely dragging them to the attach file area.
Insert A Calendar Invitation
The second new feature for Gmail brings tighter integration between Gmail and Calendar, making it easier to create Calendar events from within Gmail. When you compose an email message, there’s now an “Insert: Invitation” link right under the subject line.
When you click it, a small window appears that displays your availability as well as that of the people you’re emailing provided you have permission to see their calendars. Once you insert the invitation, a preview of the invitation will appear in your email message.
And finally when you send the email, the event gets attached to your as well as your friend’s calendar.
A very useful feature indeed. However, for this to work, your friend should have shared or made public his/her calendar.
