    This infographic depicts the number of  man-made satellites orbiting Earth as of this writing. The satellites are segregated country wise and are further divided into three groups namely -

    1. Orbiting functional satellites
    2. Orbiting dysfunctional satellites, and
    3. Space debris greater than 10cm size.

    From the infographic above, India has 17 functional and an equal number of dysfunctional satellites. The space debris stands at 106.

    Russia, USA, and China in that order leads in the number of satellites they have in orbit as well as their share of orbiting space debris.
