Find Your Correct Ergonomic Posture While Working On A Computer

Computer posture is important. You will probably spend many hours sitting at your PC and how you do this will have implications on your health as well as your productivity.

Some of the symptoms of incorrect seating posture in front of your computer are :

  • Neck pain
  • Lower back pain
  • Headaches
  • Burning sensation between your shoulder blades
  • Digestive problems, and
  • Eye strain.

So while buying office furniture, it is very important to give enough thought to correct ergonomics. Investing in an ergonomic office chair and an ergonomic desk will go a long way in increasing your personal wellbeing.

Correct Sitting Posture

The correct sitting posture should involve four parameters namely -

  1. Sitting eye height – Distance of your eyes from the ground.
  2. Sitting elbow height – Distance of your elbows from the ground while typing on the computer keyboard.
  3. Seat height, and
  4. Distance of eyes from the computer screen.

There is a very useful online tool called the Workspace planner which will help you computeĀ  all the above parameters based on your height.

What you do is just input your height in cms or inches / feet and this workspace planner tool will provide the correct values for your office furniture in relation to your height. The values displayed will help you place your equipment for best ergonomic comfort.
