The Well is an interactive horror experience which is a combination of movie and game play. Produced by Melvin Burgess, “The Well” allows you to explore the house, play games and discover the evil underneath the house.

The story goes thus – Whilst helping with a house renovation to make money for a summer trip a group of friends, Beth, Luis, Ivan and Coll discover a hidden cellar, which has an ancient well. When Ivan climbs down the well to retrieve some stones which had fallen into the murky water, he finds himself picking up more than just stones…

The aim of the game is to explore the house, collect all the Ogham stones and uncover the sinister back-story to The Well. When you complete a game you are rewarded with a stone and a new piece of the story. (Keep searching to find a series of hidden ‘lucky charms’ that you can interact with too.) Once you’ve collected all the stones on each level you will be able to watch the story from start to finish. To navigate around the house, simple click and drag the left mouse button to move around, click on a doorway to enter a room and on a game to play it. Each level must be completed before you can move onto the next.

The game is well designed, the story line is engaging and is interspersed with videos effectively pulling the player into the game and making him a part of the plot.

The down side of playing this game is you need broadband Internet connection (at least 2mbps) for a smooth playing experience. Also as in all online games, this game also runs on Flash and JavaScript. So make sure you have both these components installed on your computer before you decide to play the game.
