ZScreen – An Open Source Screen Capture Tool For Windows

ZScreen is an open source screen capture tool for Windows. However, unlike other screen capture tools, ZScreen is much more versatile.

ZScreen is developed  in Microsoft  C# 3.0 language and requires .NET 3.5 framework to run. If you are a Linux user, you should take a look at Shutter which is also as powerful as ZScreen.

Features of ZScreen

ZScreen is choke full of features, many of them not found in other screen capture tools. Some of the interesting features are as follows.

  • Automatically embed watermarks on your captured images.
  • Capture screenshots using hot keys. You can customize the hot keys to your liking.
  • Freehand crop shot and auto capture support.
  • Captured images are automatically named using a naming convention (which is fully changeable).
  • Automatically upload captured images to an FTP server or public hosting sites such as Flickr, Rapidshare, ImageShack, TinyPic, Twitter and so on.
  • Capture text and URLs and automatically paste it in text uploaders such as pastebin.com.
  • Support for various URL shortners while pasting text.
  • ZScreen provides detailed statistics and history of the captured images.

ZScreen even has an inbuilt translator which translates text from one language to another with an option to paste the result in the clipboard.

ZScreen is no doubt a powerful, open source screen capture tool. However, it runs only in Windows.
