8 Energy Foods That Fight Fat
Eating the right kind of foods can help you fight fat and thus reduce weight. Here are 8 energy foods that fight fat. Eating these foods regularly in the right quantities can help you slim down and beat over weight.
On to the list….
- Almonds – These are rich in alpha-linolenic acid, which can speed the metabolism of fats. Eating almonds regularly is a sure way of beating fat.
- Berries - Fruits like raspberries and strawberries are loaded with Vitamin-C. Eating these fruits will aid in burning fat during exercise.
- Cinnamon – In most Indian foods, cinnamon is an essential ingredient. Who knew that it had fat fighting properties. Cinnamon in your food prevents a post meal insulin spike. Insulin increase normally occurs after you eat and “signals the body that it should store fat rather than burn it” – Doctors opinion.
- Mustard – I don’t eat mustard. Never have. But it contains a very important fat fighting ingredient namely Turmeric. Experts agree that turmeric may slow the growth of fat tissues. We use lots of turmeric in our Indian foods.
- Oranges – These apart from containing liberal doses of Vitamin C also contain fat-torching compounds called flavones. Eating Oranges regularly helps combat fat.
- Soybeans – I once ate tofu which is a cheese substitute made using soybeans. We can also buy soy nuggets which are considered to be a good meat substitute. Introducing soy products in your food helps combat fat because soybeans are rich in choline, a compound that blocks fat absorption and breaks down fatty deposits.
- Sweet Potatoes – My favourite food. It is also called sweet yam. The best way to eat sweet potatoes is to boil them in water for 15 minutes prior to consuming it. They’re high in fiber, which means no drastic insulin jumps and thus less fat packed onto your hips.
- Swiss Cheese – This is a surprise for me. Who would have known that eating Swiss cheese is non-fattening. Swiss cheese contain lots of Calcium; and it has been found that Calcium-rich foods reduce fat-producing enzymes and increase fat breakdown.
