10 Tips to Control High Blood Pressure

Recently, one of my relatives did a health checkup and was diagnosed to suffer from high blood pressure. She had a blood pressure of 160/100 which falls under mild hypertension. The normal range is 120/80 for a healthy human being.

We all suffer from high blood pressure at one point or the other in our lives. Here are 10 ways in which you can effectively control your blood pressure and keep it within the normal range.

10 Tips to Control High Blood Pressure

  1. Check your blood pressure regularly.
  2. Control your weight. Know what your weight should be and slim down if you are over weight.
  3. Reduce your salt intake. Common salt is Sodium Chloride. And Sodium contributes to High Blood Pressure.
  4. Include more fruits, vegetables and whole grain high-fibreĀ  foods in your diet.
  5. If you take drinks, restrict them to just one or two drinks a day.
  6. Take your medicine exactly as prescribed. Don’t run out of pills even for a single day.
  7. Keep appointments with your doctor.
  8. Follow your doctor’s advice about physical activity.
  9. Make certain your parents, brothers, sisters and children have their blood pressure checked regularly.
  10. Live a normal life in every other way.

If you follow these tips regularly, you can effectively control your high blood pressure.
