8 Different links to accessing your GMail account

Google’s GMail is a free email service which has ascended the popularity charts by leaps and bounds. In fact you may seldom find a Net user who doesn’t have a GMail Id. One of the main reasons for GMail’s popularity stems from the fact that Google has gone to great lengths to provide an email service which has a lot of user friendly features. One of them being – the possibility to access your GMail account using more than one URL.

Here I have collected a list of Google URLs which can be used to log into your GMail account.

  1. http://mail.google.com/mail/?labs=0 – This is also known as GMail safe mode. It disables all the experimental features from GMail labs.
  2. http://mail.google.com/mail/?ui=html –  If you are using a very old browser or one which doesn’t support JavaScript, then this mode is for you. This link opens your GMail account in Basic HTML mode.
  3. https://mail.google.com/ – This is the secure mode of GMail. Notice the ‘s‘ after ‘http‘ ? This implies that all the traffic between GMail’s servers and your computer is encrypted. If you are paranoid about security or are checking your mail on a public computer, then you should use this URL instead of the default one.
  4. http://m.gmail.com – GMail has a special page fine tuned for access via a mobile phone. Called the Mobile Mode, this URL allows access to your GMail account from your mobile phone. Currently iPhone, Windows Mobile, and select phones from – Nokia, Motorola, Sony Ericsson and Samsung are supported.
  5. http://mail.google.com/mail/x/gdlakb-/gp/ – If you are an  iPhone user and the above mentioned mobile mode doesn’t cut it for you, then rest assured, Google has this special mode called iPhone mode which can be used to obtain superior experience in using your GMail from iPhone.
  6. http://www.google.com/ig/gmailmax – This mode also called the iGadget mode is for those people who are interested in checking their GMail account from within the company’s firewall. In some cases, your company may have blocked access to GMail. If that is so, this mode helps you to access your mail without a problem.
  7. http://mail.google.com/mail?nocheckbrowser – This no browser checking mode of GMail can be used if you are using a out of ordinary web browser.
  8. http://mail.google.com/mail/?ui=1 – This address takes you to the older version of GMail – just in case you are feeling nostalgic.
