$499 Asus EeePC 1002HA Laptop running Linux

EeePC range of laptops from Asus is globally well known for first ushering in the era of a sub-notebook or a mini laptop; and more importantly for pre-loading it with a non Windows operating system.  Since then Asus has unveiled a number of EeePC models of different sizes and specifications. The newest model among the EeePC range of laptops that has recently been released from the Asus stable is the EeePC 1002HA.

Like all other EeePC ranges, the 1002HA also comes pre-loaded with Linux, though a Windows version is also available.

This slim, light and elegant notebook sports an Elegant Argent Grey chassis with classy brushed aluminum finish. It has a 160 GB hard disk with a further 10 GB of online storage thrown in for free (free for 18 months) and 1 GB memory. It weighs just 1.2 Kg and is only 1 inch thick. It has a 10 inch LED backlight display, inbuilt Bluetooth and WiFi support and 5 hours of battery time per charge.

The notebook is priced at a modest $499. What is really interesting is that Asus provides an option of pre-installing the notebook with Linux other than Windows.
