Apple says there could be a Mac virus

Usually viruses are associated with a PC running (what else ?) any version of Microsoft Windows. Apple Macs running OSX, or PCs running Linux, were considered to be immune to viruses. It is still true for Linux. But if a knowledge advisory released by Apple is considered, Macs are now vulnerable to viruses.

Apple encourages the widespread use of multiple anti-virus utilities so that virus programmers have more than one application to circumvent, thus making the whole virus writing process more difficult. Here are some available anti-virus utilities:

I am sure this news is going to warm the cockles of the numerous Anti-virus software firms around the world. After all, fighting and protecting computer systems against viruses is their bread and butter. Or is this a tacit arrangement between Apple and the numerous Anti-virus software firms to further strengthen each other’s market share ?
